Description
AI4F is an ambitious R&D project aiming to revolutionize aquaculture by integrating advanced technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data analytics, and Edge Computing. Its clear goal is to provide the aquaculture sector with a comprehensive solution to optimize feeding, anticipate risks, improve animal welfare, and increase production efficiency through a holistic and predictive view of the farm.
Currently, aquaculture facilities operate with isolated systems that are rarely interconnected, making data-driven decision-making difficult. AI4F tackles this challenge by developing a modular IIoT platform that centralizes the collection, analysis, and intelligent exploitation of data from sensors, feeders, and other key infrastructure.
The project represents a leap toward Aquaculture 4.0, enabling fish farms to measure, analyze, identify, and act in an automated and real-time manner, improving environmental sustainability, profitability, and process traceability.
Key objectives
Develop a modular intelligent data acquisition system that enables automated collection of environmental, physicochemical, and animal behavior data, with local processing capabilities (edge computing).
Create a dedicated IIoT platform for aquaculture that integrates all information sources—sensors, feeders, SCADA, GIS, CMMS—and standardizes data centrally for continuous and longitudinal analysis.
Apply AI and Big Data algorithms for predictive analytics that transforms data into actionable insights to optimize key parameters such as growth, feed conversion ratio (FCR), and water quality.
Design personalized dashboards and visualization tools to provide farmers with an intuitive, customizable interface to monitor the facility, generate alerts, visualize KPIs, and receive real-time recommendations.
