Native to Europe but introduced in North America, South America, Australia, and New Zealand. Found in cold, well-oxygenated waters.
Spain, France, Italy, Germany, United States.

Highly valued in both sport fishing and aquaculture for its firm flesh and intense flavor.

By-products: Can be processed into frozen or smoked fillets.
